Your Home Doesn't Have to Feel Like the North Pole | Teems Electric

Don’t take your desire to visit Santa too far! Your home doesn’t need to feel as though you literally live on the North Pole. Our team at Teems Electric wants to offer you tips on how to keep your home warm this winter without burning up the electric bill!

The Chill Factor

Keeping your house heated this winter doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg. Use these tips to help you keep your home warm without adding any extra costs to your energy bill.

First, use those decorative curtains to your home’s heating advantage. During the day, open the curtains and allow the sun’s light in to help warm your home. When the sun goes down, though, close the curtains in order to add an extra layer of insulation and warmth to the rooms within your home.

Second, make sure you place your sofa in the appropriate spot in your living room, which is not in front of the radiator. By placing your couch in front of the radiator, you’re allowing your sofa to absorb all the heat—and that’s just selfish. Move the couch away from the radiator so that the entire room can benefit in the hot air circulation, allowing all your guests to feel warm and toasty, not just the ones who are sitting on the couch.

Finally, you might want to add something new to your holiday list, such as a new boiler for your home. Do you know the age of your boiler? If your boiler is more than 10 years old, it may be time to replace it with a new, more efficient model.

Depending on your old boiler type and house, you could save a substantial amount of money. Plus, you are less likely to have problems throughout the winter season with an upgraded boiler.
