When Do I Replace My HVAC Unit?

The winter is here, the cold has settled in, and all through the country people have their heat turned up as high as possible in an attempt to keep warm in their homes. Oftentimes, we take for granted our HVAC units that allow our homes to heat properly, assuming they will continue working indefinitely.

Sadly, this is not the case.

The optimal time to replace something is never after it has broken, but right before it actually breaks. So how do you know that it’s time to replace your HVAC unit?

Here are three signs it may be time to call Teems for an HVAC overhaul:

1) Irregular Temperatures
Are some of your rooms heating more than you would like? Are some of them not heating enough? This may be due to a variety of things, including failing equipment and poorly functioning vents. If you cannot regulate your home’s temperatures, call Teems.

2) Noise
Is your HVAC system irregularly loud? Are you constantly distracted or annoyed by the noise coming from your unit? This could be due to an undersized duct or malfunctioning coil, and if not addressed, will lead to larger problems.

3) Age
Like all things, even the best HVAC system must meet its end eventually. Have you had your system for 10-15 years? If so, it may be time to look into a new system. At that age, your system has either reduced its efficiency or is about to spring a ton of repairs on you, either way, it would be wise to have a pro inspect it.
