*Spring* Into Energy Savings This Season | Teems Electric

Although the first official day of spring is not until March 19, Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow this Groundhog Day, which means an early spring could be just around the corner!

To get you in the right frame of mind, our team at Teems Electric wants to share some tips on how you can get an early start on saving money this spring on your energy bills.

Energy-Saving Tips for Spring

First, you want to go ahead and make sure your air conditioner is ready for the warmer weather. Your HVAC system has probably been mostly set on heat rather than cool in the last few months.

Because of that, you want to make sure your air conditioner is prepared for those warmer days before the days actually arrive. Therefore, make a point to schedule a maintenance check with Teems HVAC to ensure your air conditioner is cleaned and ready for use.

Second, as the days warm up but aren’t quite hot, you want to start opening the windows more! This will keep you from having to crank up that AC quite so soon. Plus, the fresh air can do you some good!

Now is also the time to switch your fan rotation back to counterclockwise so that the fan is pushing cool air down to the floor. You may not have known it, but switching the fan to run clockwise during the winter would have helped push cool air up and away from you during those colder months.

Finally, now might be the time to consider installing new window treatments, as they can help you to bring your energy bills down, too. Choose curtains or blinds that allow you shut out the sun when it’s heating things up or let it in, depending on your needs.

Don’t wait until the warmer weather has arrived before getting your HVAC system checked. Give our team at Teems HVAC a call today to schedule an appointment!
