School Is (Nearly) Back in Session | Teems Electric

August is here, and our team at Teems Electric is ready to help ensure your school’s doors are ready to open for students to start a new school year! Therefore, here are some tips to help make sure all “I’s” are dotted and “T’s” are crossed as you prepare the school building for the first day of school.

Bring On the Students

Just as your students have been enjoying a summer break, so has your school building. The lights haven’t been turned on as much as they usually are during the school year, and the air conditioning probably hasn’t been used as often for a few months. However, now that school is about to begin again, it’s time to make sure that everything is working in time for a packed house.

Start by making sure all the lights are working inside and outside the school. This might be a good time to discuss using energy-efficient lighting in your classrooms to help the teachers and children see better, as well as save the school money on the energy bill.

Of course, when you’re checking the lights inside the school, don’t forget about the lights outside! Because teachers and staff will be working later hours and students will be leaving the school after hours due to studying, sports practice and other activities, exterior lights need to be working properly in order to help give a sense of security, as well as help light the way to the parking lot without injury.

Plus, fans of football will be waiting to see the first games of the season—and beyond! Who else is counting down the days to football?

You also want to check and make sure the HVAC units within the school building are maintained properly. By calling professionals to help in the maintenance of your air unit, you can make sure everything from the coils to the thermostats are checked and ready to go.
