Move Full Steam Ahead With a Better Maintained Boiler! | Teems Electric

It might still be warm outside right now, but soon, the winter weather will be rolling in. Our team at Teems Steam wants you to go ahead and prepare now for energy savings this winter by getting your home’s steam system ready sooner rather than later.

Let’s Get to Cleaning!

A steam boiler is a device used to create steam by applying heat energy to water. In fact, steam boilers were actually one of the first solutions for heating a home!

However, as with anything, you want to make sure you keep your steam boiler in good condition to keep it working effectively and efficiently all winter long.

First, when was the last time you did a good cleaning of your entire steam system? There is no better time than the present to make sure your boiler is clean and not producing wet steam that can cause it not to heat as well.

In addition, you want to make sure your steam system’s vents are working properly. Steam needs to be able to move freely. If the steam is not able to move from higher pressure in the boiler to lower pressure at the open air vent, the cycle will be cut short.

Prevent this from happening by making sure the vents are installed the right way and steam is flowing smoothly.

Second, you might want to consider re-insulating the supply piping near the boiler piping. Doing so can lower your fuel bill.

Remember, even small savings along the way can add up to big savings later on!

You also want to make sure the control setting on your steam system is adjusted to low, since lower steam pressure allows the steam to move at the best efficiency possible for your steam system.

Finally, you want to make sure the water line position is where it needs to be to help produce steam at the right level. For instance, if the water line position is set too high, the cost will rise. But if the water line position is too low, the water will cut off.

Therefore, you need to make sure the water line position is at the perfect level each time for efficiency and productivity.

By following some of the steps mentioned above, you will have a clean boiler ready to go for winter!
